SCREENAGERS Vol. 2 - An interactive DIY musical for the digital age

SCREENAGERS Vol. 2 An interactive DIY musical for the digital age SNG Nova Gorica, Main Stage Mobile phone use during the performance is required! SCREENAGERS Vol. 2 sits at the intersection of a concert, lecture, performance and personal confession – a kind of singing TED Talk or DIY musical for the digital age. Barbara Matijević takes the audience on a playful and humorous journey through online experiences and emotions. What happens to our imagination, emotions and relationships when the internet is no longer somewhere we occasionally go, but an environment in which we live? The audience enters the performance with their own mobile phones, which become theatrical tools rather than distractions. Through them, spectators actively participate, co-create content appearing on the large screen and even find themselves inside a video game. Online searches, digital images, QR codes, chatbots, music, video and audience responses come together in a performance about pain, joy, longing and the emotions of digital everyday life. SCREENAGERS Vol. 2 neither condemns nor celebrates the internet. With humour and without moralising, it asks what the endless stream of online content is doing to us. The performance has been presented at theatres and festivals across Europe. The performance is in English.
